India Beat Oman by 21 Runs to Stay Unbeaten in Asia Cup 2025

India continued its winning streak in the 2025 Asia Cup with a dramatic 21-run win over Oman in the last match of the group stage on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The champions of group A emerged the top group and competed with the runners-up (Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh) in the super four phase.
On the first time of meeting Oman in any form, India was put to the test even after registering a high total. Sanju Samson scored the most with a consistent 56 off 45 balls, playing anchor roles to build key partnerships with Abhishek Sharma (38 off 15), Axar Patel (26 off 13) and Tilak Varma (29 off 18) to put India to 188/8. Faisal Shah, the left-arm pacer of Oman, caused an impression with 2/23.
Oman’s response began slowly and was then broken by a riotous second-wicket stand that threatened to establish dominance on India. Aamir Kaleem (64 off 46) and Hammad Mirza (51 off 33) added on 93, which made the chase alive, and the equation came down to 56 off the remaining three overs.
However, Hardik Pandya came out of his shell to sack Kaleem in the 18th over to turn the tide in favour of India. Pandya also took Mirza, and Arshdeep Singh made his 100th T20I wicket, which decided the victory and a flawless group stage.
As Oman bow out without victory, with Afghanistan, UAE and Hong Kong, India now shifts their attention to the high-voltage Super Four match with Pakistan on Sunday, 21 September, in Dubai. Sri Lanka will face the Bangladesh on the first Super Four match on Saturday.
