ICC Reviews PCB Complaint Over Suryakumar Asia Cup Remarks

International Cricket Council (ICC) has stated that it is examining a formal complaint lodged by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, after he made remarks, following the group-stage India-Pakistan cricket match in the Asia Cup 2025. One of the reports by the Hindustan Times indicates that the PCB says that the post-match comments by Yadav had political undertones and infringed the code of conduct of ICC.
The controversy is due to the fact that India was victorious over Pakistan on September 14, and Yadav gave the victory to the families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and also lauded the courage of India armed forces.
The April attack that claimed the lives of at least 24 individuals led to a short-term spike in the tension between New Delhi and Islamabad. Pakistan has denied its involvement terming the allegations of India as groundless.
Referee Richie Richardson is said to have e-mailed the Indian team to confirm him getting two official reports about the case and that included the speech given by Yadav during his presentation and later press conference. ICC announced that it is reviewing the issue and a formal hearing may occur in case the comments are detected to violate the rules of neutrality.
The captains of the two parties failed to shake hands during the toss or at the end of the game, which prolonged the so-called handshakegate among fans. The competition was further enhanced when India won the rematch on Sunday by six wickets to remain unbeatable in the tournament.
In spite of the diplomatic cloud, Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan told on Monday that his team is not giving up on sitting at the same table with India during the final and this indicated that the cricketing battle will intensify despite the increased off field scrutiny.
