I found the best Kindle deals to shop in the final hours of Prime Day: Prices start at $84.99

Testing Kindles and e-readers is my job, but it's also my passion. I use my Kindle Paperwhite every day — unless I'm testing a new e-reader — and it's accompanied me on many a summer adventure. So, while I spend a lot of time convincing Mashable readers to buy my favorite e-readers, I also track the best times to buy one.
Today is the final day of Amazon Prime Day 2026, and Kindle deals are holding strong. Several models have dropped to record-low prices, including the newer Kindle Scribes. Plus, Amazon is currently offering promotions on Kindle Unlimited, Audible subscriptions, and Kindle books, so you can load up your new device for less.
So TL;DR, if you're eyeing a Kindle, now's the time to buy. Here are the best e-reader and audiobook deals to shop before the sale wraps up tonight. And if you're not looking for Kindle deals, check out our Prime Day hub for our full coverage of the sale.
Best budget buy
Why we like it
The base Kindle remains the best starter Kindle for people who are new to e-readers and don't yet have a massive digital library. While the most basic Kindle didn't drop to its all-time low price for Prime Day (it previously reached $79.99), it still has a $25 discount that brings the price down to $84.99. Considering how long Amazon re-readers last, that's a great price for a device that will last you many years to come.
Best overall Prime Day Kindle deal
Why we like it
My absolute favorite Prime Day Kindle deal is on the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. It's the e-reader that I use every day, and it's currently on sale for $144.99. That makes it cheaper than the Paperwhite at full price, but it also makes it the same price as the currently on sale Paperwhite without ads.
However, the Signature Edition is far more bang for your buck as it comes with twice the storage, an auto-adjusting front light, and wireless charging. It's an exceptional deal and the device's new lowest price ever.

Best Kindle subscription deal
Why we like it
If you're buying a new e-reader, you need something to read on it. Right now, Amazon is offering three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. This subscription gives you unlimited access to millions of digital titles, magazines, and audiobooks. Since it normally costs $11.99 per month, this deal saves you roughly $36. Just keep in mind that it'll auto-renew at full price after the three months are up if you don't cancel.
Best audiobook subscription deal
Why we like it
If you're more of a listener than a reader, Audible is matching the Kindle Unlimited deal by offering three months free to Prime members. Not only do you get to pick one audiobook to keep each month, but Amazon is also throwing in a bonus $20 Audible credit to sweeten the deal. It auto-renews at $8.99 per month after the trial, but you can cancel anytime before then. This offer is valid through July 5.
How do Kindle prices compare to previous sales?
Having tracked Kindle prices for years, I have a pretty good sense of how much Amazon's e-readers cost on sale. So, how are Kindle deals this Prime Day?
The Kindle Paperwhite's lowest price ever is $124.99, which the device dropped to during Black Friday, Prime Big Deals Days, and of course, last year's Prime Day. This year it's back down to $124.99. The Signature Edition, on the other hand, reached a new low of $144.99, just $20 more for a boatload of extra features.
The deal I'm most disappointed in is the one for the basic Kindle, which previously dropped to $79.99. This Prime Day, it's $5 more for $84.99. New deals this Prime Day include the latest Kindle Scribe and Scribe Colorsoft, both getting their first price drops since being released.
