Hybrid threats and Euro-Atlantic integration as topics of the Mostar meeting of A5 member states

Mostar, (Fena) – within the framework of BiH’s chairmanship, with themes of resilience to hybrid threats and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Josip Brkić emphasized that A5 is a key format for strengthening security, good neighborly relations and support for integration, and that during its chairmanship BiH encouraged discussions on cyber security, hybrid threats and regional coordination.

Brkić pointed out that the goal was to strengthen stability and security in the region through pragmatic cooperation and the reinforcement of mechanisms for crisis management. He added that BiH remains committed to the Euro-Atlantic path, with the expectation of the imminent adoption of key laws and the appointment of the chief negotiator for the EU, and he recalled the recently adopted NATO plan (ITPP) for the period 2025–2028.

Croatia will take over the A5 chairmanship in 2026, and State Secretary Frano Matušić announced a focus on cyber security, the energy sector and the continuation of the open-door policy towards NATO. “The goal is for the entire area of Southeast Europe to be encompassed by membership in NATO and the EU,” he said.

The U.S.-Adriatic Charter, established in 2003, brings together BiH, Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia and the USA, while Serbia, Slovenia and Kosovo have observer status. (10.12,)
