Help Albania against the flames, firefighting planes and support with satellite images

Powerful fires that engulfed Albania between July 21 and July 31, 2025, led the country to activate the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
According to the European Union delegation in Tirana, during this period, six countries, including Albania, faced severe fires and activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
In response to the request for assistance, the European Union mobilized firefighting planes, helicopters, ground teams, and satellite support from across Europe to help manage the situation and protect affected communities.
In Albania, firefighting planes from Greece, Italy, and Croatia, helicopters from Hungary, as well as support with satellite imagery through the Copernicus system were engaged.
“This rapid and coordinated response demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the European Union to stand by partner countries in challenging moments — providing not only tools and capacities but also solidarity, cooperation, and long-term support,” said the post on the social media of the EU delegation in Tirana.
The focused intervention of civil protection forces in Albania, also favored by the drop in temperatures and local rains, brought the fires under control and extinguished them almost throughout the country. (August 1)
