EU’s delegation in Ukraine hit by Russian missile attack on Kyiv

A building belonging to the EU’s delegation in Ukraine was hit in a Russian attack on the night of Thursday in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.

This is reported by EU President António Costa on the social media platform X.

“Appalled by yet another night of deadly Russian missile attacks on Ukraine.”

“My thoughts are with the Ukrainian victims and also with the staff of the EU’s delegation in Ukraine, whose building was damaged in this deliberate Russian attack,” writes António Costa.

There are no reports of anyone being injured at the EU office.

According to Ukrainian authorities, at least ten people have lost their lives in other areas due to the Russian attacks on Kyiv. Additionally, 38 have been injured.

The attacks hit various districts in the capital region, including both residential buildings and other structures, reports Reuters.

“The EU will not be intimidated. Russia’s attacks only strengthen our resolve to stand with Ukraine and its people,” says António Costa on X.

Air alarms in Kyiv were reportedly activated for nine hours on the night of Thursday while the Russian attack was ongoing.

The attack was carried out using both missiles and drones.

Ukraine’s air force reports that it shot down 563 out of 598 Russian drones and 26 out of 31 missiles during the attack.

The air force has identified 13 locations that were hit in the attack.

According to the head of Kyiv’s military administration, Tymur Tkatjenko, drones and missiles were launched into the capital from various directions.

“Unfortunately, the Russians’ approach is typical in their attacks.”

“Combined attacks from different directions. And systematic strikes – hit ordinary residential buildings,” he writes on the messaging platform Telegram according to Reuters.

In addition to the places that were directly hit, there has been damage to some areas where debris from drones and missiles has fallen.
