Costa and Von der Leyen visit the Middle East this week
Brussels – The President of the European Council, António Costa, will take part on Thursday, in Amman, in the first summit between the European Union (EU) and Lebanon, then traveling to Libya and Syria, accompanied by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The former Portuguese prime minister and President of the European Commission will leave for Jordan after marking, on Wednesday in Nicosia, the start of the Cypriot presidency of the EU, from January 1 to June 30.
On Thursday, Costa and Von der Leyen will be in Oman, at the first EU-Jordan summit, from where they will depart, the following day, for Syria, with a scheduled meeting with the President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in Damascus, and then for Lebanon, where they will meet with the head of state, Joseph Aoun, in Beirut.
This Tuesday, António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen are taking part, in Paris, in the meeting of the leaders participating in the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine. (01/05/26)
