Paulo Andrez is widely recognised as one of Europe’s most experienced experts in early-stage investment, entrepreneurship, and risk mitigation. As an angel investor, he has backed a broad portfolio of startups and scale-ups across Europe and internationally, including Sword Health, which reached unicorn status in 2022. One of his early investments, United Resins, achieved €24.5 million in revenue within its first year of operations, earning him the “Best European Angel Investment” award in 2012. Earlier in his career, Paulo was also a key shareholder in Novabase’s IPO on Euronext.
Beyond investing, Paulo has played a central role in shaping Europe’s startup and innovation ecosystem. He previously served as President of the European Business Angel Network and now holds the title of President Emeritus. He is also an advisory board member of the European Startup Nations Alliance and the founder of DNA Cascais, an entrepreneurship agency that has supported more than 600 startups. Since 2012, he has advised several European governments and the European Commission on early-stage investment policies, business angel co-investment funds, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
