Basware approved for French Tax Certification ahead of impending e-invoicing deadline

Businesses in France must digitise core finance processes of face substantial fines. By September 1, all VAT-registered companies in the country will be required to exchange invoices and report on transactions electronically or face substantial penalties.
In preparation for these changes, Invoice Life Cycle Management specialist Basware has been accredited as a Certified Platform (Plateforme Agrée – PA) by the General Directorate of Public Finance (DGFiP) to support the rollout of the mandate.
Basware’s Invoice Lifecycle Management, AI-Powered Management Platform can be used by French businesses as a powerful tool to automate, control, and ensure compliance across the entire invoice lifecycle, protecting them against potential fines.
The platform provides a complete array of services, from capture and validation to approval, payment, and audit readiness.
Aligned with the EU’s VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) initiative, the 2026 French e-Invoicing and reporting mandate is designed to improve tax compliance and VAT transparency and reduce administrative burden and fraud through digital standards and automation. Failure to comply with the measure carries hefty costs, including €15 for each invoice not issued in the required electronic format and €250 per missing or late e-reporting of B2C and cross-border transactions.
French authorities estimate they could recoup €3bn a year and this number is expected to rise if businesses don’t take action.
Businesses in the country are already using Basware’s system to make improvement, with Carglass France using it to drive a future-ready e-Invoicing process and get in compliance with the 2026 mandate ahead of schedule.
Amid an ongoing ERP upgrade, Carglass completed a deployment of Basware’s automated invoice processing solution across 3,700 active suppliers in just seven months. The company now process 115,000 supplier invoices electronically on an annual basis and is well-positioned to drive continued compliance and operational efficiency as the new regulations take effect.
In an interview with European Business, Abigail Myers-Antiaye, VP of Global Compliance, Basware told us: “The France e-Invoicing Mandate is one of Europe’s most complex e-invoicing reforms, and the risks of non-compliance are clear. But so too are the opportunities for businesses that act decisively.”
“By moving beyond a box-ticking mindset and treating invoice compliance as a strategic priority, businesses can unlock growth, protect revenue, and strengthen trust with customers, investors, and regulators.
She continued: “This is exactly what Basware’s Invoice Lifecycle Management platform can help them do.”
Meanwhile Markus Hornberg, SVP, Global Compliance, Basware added: “Achieving PA certification is a really important milestone for Basware and our France e-invoicing mandate program, affirming our ongoing commitment to help businesses navigate the evolving regulatory changes with simplicity and confidence.”
