Barely Hoops – FIBA commentator Jeff Taylor ahead of EuroBasket 2025

It’s the eve of EuroBasket 2025. Fans are gathering in Katowice, Nicosia, Riga, and Tampere, but those watching at home will recognise a familiar voice. In the latest edition of the Barely Hoops podcast, FIBA and BCL commentator Jeff Taylor spoke with Emmet Ryan about his journey through basketball and commentary.
From growing up surrounded by ACC basketball, including attending UNC at the same time as Michael Jordan and James Worthy, Jeff Taylor was basically born into the sport. He shared his story of making the move to Europe and getting his first big break in broadcasting. It was one that would lead to his voice being associated with some of the biggest moments in international basketball.
Jeff Taylor will be impossible to miss at EuroBasket, from commentary in Riga through helming press conferences, it’s going to be a busy few weeks for the veteran. Listen to him share some of his tales from the mic and share what’s in store for him at EuroBasket 2025.
Barely Hoops is BallinEurope’s new weekly podcast. Listen to it wherever you find your podcasts and please be kind enough to give us a review (a positive one ideally). The more you do that, the more people we can introduce to it. Previous guests include Mick Curley, a former youth international baller who became an elite 2K player, and Lev aka Lisco 2000 aka the Dario Saric superfan.
Barely Hoops tells basketball stories but it also shows the side of life that is interesting away from the court. If that sounds like your jam, check it out and suggest future guests for us to have on the show.
The next episode will drop the Monday after EuroBasket concludes so subscribe now to stay up to date and ready for the next dose of Barely Hoops. It’s a basketball podcast, of sorts.
