Bardella (far-right) confirms the filing of a motion of censure against von der Leyen in the European Parliament

European Parliament (Strasbourg, France) – Jordan Bardella, leader of the French National Rally and a far-right group in the European Parliament, claimed on Wednesday in Strasbourg that he has gathered the necessary votes to submit a motion of censure against Ursula von der Leyen.
The radical left also intends to submit a motion of censure on its side.
Both initiatives are doomed to fail as the right, centrists, and social democrats do not intend to overthrow Ursula von der Leyen.
Mr. Bardella plans to challenge the trade agreement with Latin American countries of Mercosur, a “betrayal” of farmers and the environment, according to him. On Wednesday, he also criticized the trade agreement with the United States on customs duties, a “capitulation,” symbolizing a “disarmed and discredited” European Union.
This motion of censure could be debated in the coming weeks after verification of the signatures.
In early July, the European Parliament had already largely rejected a far-right motion of censure aimed at the President of the European Commission. (September 10, 2025)
