Australia makes considerable efforts to conclude a trade agreement with the EU

Bucharest – Australia is making considerable efforts to conclude a trade agreement with the European Union and appreciates Romania’s support in this endeavor, said the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Australian Parliament, Milton Dick, who visited Romania earlier this week.
The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, had very successful meetings with the EU, and most recently, on September 25, the Australian Minister for Trade, Don Farrell, met with the EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maros Sefcovic, at the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ meeting, said Milton.
“We will continue this work. There is still much to be done. But high-level meetings are one thing, however recognizing the importance of trade in both directions in uncertain times is more important than ever. And we acknowledge Romania’s support for the trade agreement between Australia and the EU and look forward to those discussions continuing. And I am sure and confident that, from our Prime Minister to the Minister for Trade, these discussions will continue,” the Australian official said in an interview with AGERPRES.
Since 2018, negotiations have been underway between the EU and Australia regarding a comprehensive free trade agreement to facilitate their trade exchanges. (15.10.2025)
