At the Europe House, opportunities through the Erasmus program for Bosnian students were presented

Sarajevo, (Fena) – Europe House in Sarajevo hosted students at an interactive presentation of the Erasmus+ program, one of the most successful programs of the European Union, as part of the broader ErasmusDays campaign taking place worldwide to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by this initiative.

Students were joined by the head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, as well as numerous Erasmus+ alumni who shared their unique experiences.

During his welcoming speech, Ambassador Soreca emphasized the importance of mobility and youth exchange programs, as well as their impact on empowering new generations to be actively involved in the process of European integration – it was announced by the EU Delegation in BiH.

– Erasmus+ is a truly European experience – one that transcends borders and languages, representing the true spirit of European unity and cooperation. For many, Erasmus+ is an experience that changes life perceptions – an opportunity to study abroad, meet new people, and create new understandings. It is important to encourage and motivate others to apply and take advantage of this opportunity. Erasmus+ is a program that helps you step out of your comfort zone, grow, learn, understand, and support Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to membership in our Union – said the ambassador.

Interested students had the opportunity to learn more about the program from the staff of the University of Sarajevo, which coordinates the process, as well as to hear personal mobility experiences from former Erasmus+ students who highlighted how the exchange supported their academic and career goals.

Considering the encouraging increase in the number of applications from students in BiH, as well as the rise in the number of international students coming to Bosnia and Herzegovina under the mobility program, participants agreed that mobility opportunities should be promoted more and presented to students across the country.

As part of the ErasmusDays activities, Europe House, in collaboration with the University of Tuzla, will organize an Info Day on October 16 to share opportunities with students from the Tuzla region.

Most Erasmus students happily emphasize that the exchange enriched their lives and opened new opportunities.

Sergej Mačar, a graphic designer and photographer born in Sarajevo, is one of them. Mačar’s internationally awarded exhibition “Sur,” inspired by his experience during the Erasmus exchange, was opened at Europe House in the presence of the Deputy Ambassador of Spain to BiH, Sol Cabanas.

– I am very proud that Spain is among the favorite destinations for Erasmus+ students from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I myself was on an Erasmus exchange, and it is an experience I carry with me even today. It is more than just an academic exchange; this experience truly changes lives, connects people across the continent, and strengthens European identity – said Cabanas. (14.10.)
