Asia Cup 2025: Shreyas Iyer Reacts to Omission

Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batter, said he was “frustrated” when he wasn’t included for India’s 15-man roster for the Asia Cup 2025. He thought his recent performances deserved a spot. Iyer told a local Indian podcast that he had a hard time dealing with the disappointment at first, but he swiftly moved on to the broader objective.

“It only makes you mad when you know you should be on the team and in the playing XI.” “That time, it is annoying,” he stated.

“But you also support someone who is regularly performing and playing for the team. The goal is for the team to win, and when they do, everyone is delighted.

Even though he had a setback, the right-hander said he was determined to work harder off the field and improve his game to the point where his performances are impossible to miss.

“You have to make sure you conduct your work ethically if you don’t get a chance. You don’t have to do your job only when someone is watching. Iyer said, “When you get ready in a certain way, whatever happens on the field is just a reflection of what you do off the field.”

He also said that if you keep preparing the same way, you will ultimately see results.

“If you prepare well and don’t do well in one or two games, you will definitely do well in the third game.” “I have been through this,” he said in the end.

The 15th edition of the men’s Asia Cup will be played in the T20I format. There will be eight teams: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, the UAE, and Hong Kong. These teams will be split into two groups.

India is in Group A with Oman, Pakistan, and the host country, the UAE.

On September 10, they start their campaign in Dubai against the UAE. On September 14, they play their biggest rivals, Pakistan, at the same location. On September 19, they end the group stage in Abu Dhabi against Oman.

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka are all in Group B. The top two teams from each group will move on to the Super Four round. The top two teams from that round will then play in the final on September 28.
