Amir Opens Up After Dismissing Babar Azam in PSL 10

Experienced pacer Mohammad Amir of Quetta Gladiators thought back on dismissing Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam for the second time in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Amir bamboozled the star batter with a well-made in-swinger after dismissing Babar for a duck when the two sides initially clashed in the ongoing premier tournament. Aware of the significance of the dismissal, the left-arm pacer sprinted in jubilation before launching a special celebration while confronting the dugout of the Gladiators.

Early jolt followed by five-wicket haul by Faheem Ashraf drove Quetta Gladiators to thrash Peshawar Zalmi by 64 runs. Amir was asked about the sought-after ejection at his post-match press conference. In response, the left-arm pacer said that his objective is other than mocking the batters since such rivalries entertain fans.

“Whether on the field or social media, these rivalies entertain people, especially in T20s—that’s the main goal,” Amir remarked.

“My job as a bowler is to show intensity and tempt the hitter; the batter wants runs. These things ought to happen, but within restrictions. Babar’s fans post his videos; mine are posted by my fans. Perfect for the competition, he said.

Then Muhammad Amir praised Babar Azam as a “big player” before exposing how he misled the top hitter.

“Babar Azam is a major player; this is certain. Usually, I use the swing with the fresh ball. Whoever it is, Saim or Babar. Babar would be ready for the outswinger, so I attempted to pull it back in,” he said.
