A just and lasting peace cannot be achieved without Ukraine and the European Union, said the Bulgarian Prime Minister

SOFIA – A just and lasting peace cannot be achieved without Ukraine and the European Union, noted Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in a post on the social network “X”. During today’s video conference of the “Coalition of the Willing,” we discussed the upcoming meeting in Alaska, the Prime Minister reported.
Zhelyazkov assured that work will continue in close cooperation with the U.S. and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to achieve peace in Ukraine, for long-term stability, security, and prosperity. It was previously reported that the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this Friday will take place at a U.S. military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz ruled out the possibility of transferring Ukrainian territories to Russia after the end of the virtual meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, senior Ukrainian leaders, and key Western allies of Kyiv, Reuters reported.
Bulgaria’s support will continue even in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, declared the Bulgarian Prime Minister at the fourth High-Level Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which took place in the Italian capital Rome on July 10-11. The main goal of the meeting was to reaffirm the commitment to finding a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. The possibilities for ensuring stability for Ukraine and the region after a potential peace agreement were discussed, with an emphasis on coordinating efforts to increase collective support for Ukraine, as well as on developing a common framework for financial assistance by 2026.
At the beginning of the year, the Bulgarian Prime Minister stated that an independent and democratic Ukraine is vital for the security and stability of Europe. With its actions in support of Ukraine, Bulgaria occupies a worthy place in the joint efforts of the international community, NATO, and the European Union. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who defend not only their territory but also our shared values, Zhelyazkov added at that time. (August 13)
