Alex Salmond accused of being ‘useful idiot’ as he is urged to quit RT chat show


Alex Salmond has been accused of being a “useful idiot” as he came under pressure to quit his chat show on a Kremlin-funded TV channel following the disclosure it was “highly likely” Russia was behind the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

Alex Cole-Hamilton, a Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP, challenged the former First Minister to use the next edition of his RT (Russia Today) programme on Thursday to condemn Vladimir Putin’s regime or “walk away”.

Mr Salmond has so far defended the controversial broadcaster, mocking its detractors at the weekend by stating it was “not responsible for the poisoning in Salisbury.”

He also appeared to draw comparisons between RT and the BBC, which he has heavily criticised…
